GLEN PROVIDENCE/LOUIS SCOTT PARKS - AMENDED

6 or 12 miles. Meet 10:15 AM at State and Orange Streets in Media, endpoint of the 101 trolley, arriving at 10:03. We’ll walk first through Glen Providence Park, Delaware County’s oldest public park. We’ll then walk a short distance to Louis Scott Park, our newest park, explore that park, have lunch, and return to the edge of Glen Providence Park. Those wishing a longer hike will then walk along a pleasant residential street and through a cemetery (with one crossing of a main road) to Rose Tree Park, where we’ll walk over fields and trails and then return to State and Orange Streets. No cost for this PA/DNCR hiking week activity. Leader: Abbie Wysor, 610-565-9618, Day of hike: 610-742-5967, john-abbie@verizon.net.

BECAUSE IT MAY BE TOO WARM AND SUNNY TO DO THE LONGER HIKE TO ROSE TREE PARK, WE WILL INSTEAD WADE ACROSS RIDLEY CREEK AFTER LUNCH (LUNCH IS ON THE BANKS OF THE CREEK) AND HIKE ABOUT 2 MILES IN MIDDLETOWN'S MEMORIAL PARK. THE SPOT WHERE WE WILL CROSS THE CREEK IS SLOW MOVING AND SHALLOW. BRING WATERSHOES, HOWEVER, TO PROTECT YOUR FEET FROM ROCKS. ANYONE NOT WISHING TO WADE OR DO THE EXTRA MILEAGE CAN HANG OUT AT THE CREEK UNTIL WE RETURN (APPROX. 1 HOUR) AND THEN RETURN TO MEDIA WITH THE GROUP. IF THERE ARE OBJECTIONS, WE'LL JUST DO THE SHORTER HIKE OR GO AHEAD WITH THE LONGER HIKE TO ROSE TREE PARK FOR THOSE WHO ARE INTERESTED.
