CHANGE: We'll start the hike from the parking lot at Scotts Run Lake rather than from Hopewell Furnace (which closes at 5 PM). This will allow us more leisure to explore Hopewell Furnace after we eat lunch there and will also offer two possible drop-out points--one at Hopewell Furnace (6 miles) and another after we pass through Crow's Nest (9 miles). Call me if you're interested in doing these shorter options, because we'll have to arrange to set your car at your endpoint.
MEDIA TROLLEY WILL NOT GO TO ORANGE ST. THIS SUNDAY. I WILL BE AT PROVIDENCE ROAD (BOWLING GREEN) STOP TO MEET HIKERS AT 7:15 AND WILL WAIT UNTIL 7:40ish TO LEAVE FOR TRAILHEAD.
12-14 miles. Meet 7:30 AM at State and PROVIDENCE Streets in Media, endpoint of the 101 trolley arriving 7:28. (50 miles to trailhead). If meeting at trailhead, please contact leader for directions. From Scotts Run Lake in French Creek we will travel through parts of Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site, Crow's Nest Preserve, and French Creek State Park, hiking on the Horseshoe Trail plus other trails, so as to make a circuit back to our starting point.
