5 or 10 miles. Meet at Valley Forge visitor center parking lot at 7:30 AM (85 miles to trailhead.) Hike the Appalachian Trail along the Kittatinny Ridge north of Bangor, PA. Two part hike (loop and out-and-back) highlighting bird observation "citizen science". From Fox Gap, we head south on the AT, traversing Wolf Rocks, which overlooks the new Cherry Valley NWR. Wolf Rocks is an ideal hawk watch area during migration. The second half heads north on the AT from Fox Gap toward Totts Gap, featuring overlooks of the Minsi Lake corridor protected landscape. Learn about the geology of this section of the ridge, a glaciation boundary. Moderate pace but frequent stops, with some rough terrain and rock scrambling but minimal exposure. Opportunity to drop out after first part. We will be hiking with Wilmington Trail Club. Bring binoculars if you have them. Background info at kittatinnyridge.org.  If meeting at Fox Gap trailhead, contact leader for parking details. No cost for this PA/DCNR hiking week activity. Leader Susan Charkes 215-534-3537, susan@susancharkes.com.
