UNFORTUNATELY WE MUST CANCEL THIS HIKE. THE PRESERVES ARE COVERED IN 10+ INCHES OF SNOW COVERED IN A THICK CRUST OF ICE. IT IS NOT EVEN DOABLE WITH SNOW SHOES. ADDITIONALLY, TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE LOW TEENS WITH WIND GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH.
6-7 miles. Meet at 10:00 a.m. in the paved parking lot at Rushton Woods Preserve, 911 Delchester Road, Newtown Square (39.98283, -75.48676). From Route 3, traveling west, turn right into Delchester Road and follow it almost to where it comes to a T at Goshen Road. The first turnoff into the Preserve is the paved lot. Okehocking and Rushton Woods Preserves provide moderate hiking in a beautiful, varied farmland setting. We will hike 2-3 miles in Rushton Woods, walk along an easement for just over one mile to Okehocking Preserve and hike another 4 miles before returning to Rushton Woods.
