A NARRATIVE HIKE ON THE DELAWARE CANAL, 18920

8 miles. Meet at 10:00 AM at Tinicum Park parking lot off Rte. 32 (40.506699, -75.067604).  Walking north on the Delaware Canal, we will hear a short history of the Canal.  If ever you had wanted to work on a barge, know that one of your first skills was to learn to cuss like the old timers. Also, be on the lookout for the UBE heron who keeps his eye on all newcomers.  After about 4 miles, we will arrive at the Homestead Store for a hardy lunch.  If luck is on our side, we will encounter UBE Larry, whose grandparents were lock keepers on the Canal.
