6-7 miles. See the unusual geological formation known as Sand Spring and walk a nice section of the AT with lunch at Eagle's Nest shelter. Elevation gain, and some rocky sections with uneven footing.  Wear sturdy boots and bring lunch and water.  The hike is a short distance from Shartlesville, exit 23 on I-78.  Meet at 10:00 AM at the Dunkin Donuts, just north of the exit.  For those wanting to share a ride from the Philly area, meet in Media at the end of the 101 trolley line by 8 am.  We leave promptly.  You MUST contact the leader if you want a ride from Media.  A trolley leaves 69th street station at 7:30 and arrives at Orange Street in Media at 7:52 (check for any changes).  Leader: Gary Sawyer, 484-478-2607,  muddyboots@comcast.netThunderstorms or heavy rain cancel the hike.
