  • 04 Mar 2018
  • 10:00 AM
  • Pakim Pond parking lot, GPS 39.88019, -74.53369

This hike is now on Sunday, 3/4/18 due to weather.

SAT. Mar 3 (RAIN/SNOW DATE SUN. MARCH 4) – Note that a change has been made to the meeting place for this maintenance trip. Instead of the Red Lion Diner, the new meeting place will be at the Pakim Pond parking lot, GPS 39.88019, -74.53369. Turn onto the paved road at milepost three on New Jersey Rt. 72 and follow for about a mile to the parking area on the left. Time remains the same, 10:00 AM. We will work on the trail at both ends of the pond. To Rt. 72 on the east end and through the Natural Area on the west end. Please be early so work assignments can be given out for the 10:00 AM departure time. For anyone needing transportation, post requests on the Batona Meetup site: https://www.meetup.com/Batona-Hiking-Club/.  Refer to this site and to https://batona.wildapricot.org for updates. This year’s work trip will involve the usual cutting, trimming and trash collection on Batona’s part of the trail from Ong’s Hat to Carranza. Batona will provide the tools or you can use your own. Since opening in 1961, the Batona Trail has become a well used part of the New Jersey trail system. With the help of volunteers like you, the trail has grown from its original 30 miles to over 50 miles long. Bring lunch and water. No cost. Leader: Milt Cannan, 609-536-8205.
