UPDATED DESCRIPTION: WILLISTOWN TOWNSHIP (19355)

  • 21 Jan 2018
  • 8:30 AM

SUN Jan 21–UPDATED DESCRIPTION:

8 miles or 12 miles. If using public transportation, take SEPTA 101 trolley from 69th Street to Springfield Mall stop to meet leader at 8:25 AM. If driving meet in front of Macy's (park under trees next to Baltimore Pike) at 8:30 AM. Parking at the trailhead is VERY limited, so everyone is strongly encouraged to meet at the Mall and carpool with as few cars as possible. Willistown is committed to preserving its beautiful open lands and woods and the trails that wind through them. Hike through beautiful Ashbridge Preserve, down a country road to Serpentine Preserve/Willisbrook Preserve, through those diverse preserves and back to Ashbridge (approx. 8 miles). For those who were on the Willistown hike two years ago, when Torben Jenk led the hike, this is a portion of that hike. We can also hike an additional 3-4 miles in Okehoking Preserve, if desired. Expect muddy, wet areas. Boots recommended. Bring lunch, snacks, water. Cost: $1.00. Leader: Abbie Wysor, 610-742-5967, abbiewysor@gmail.com.
