BATONA TRAIL MAINTENANCE (see meeting place change)

  • 04 Mar 2017
  • 10:00 AM
  • Woodland Township, NJ 08019 (Pakim Pond parking area) 39.88019, -74.53369

"Note that a change has been made to the meeting place for the Batona Trail maintenance on Sat. March 4th (rain/snow date Sun. March 5th). Instead of the Red Lion Diner, the new meeting place will be at the Pakim Pond parking lot (approx. 39.88019, -74.53369). Turn onto the paved road at milepost three on New Jersey Rt. 72 and follow for about a mile to the parking area on the left. Time remains the same, 10:00 AM. We will work on the trail at both ends of the pond to Rt. 72 on the east end and through the Natural Area on the west end.

Please be early so work assignments can be given out in time for the 10:00 AM departure. For anyone needing transportation the best option is to post your need on the Batona meetup site - http://www.meetup.com/Batona-Hiking-Club/. Please also check the Batona website and the Batona Meetup site about a week before for a possible meeting place change if the area of work warrants a change. This year’s work trip will involve the usual cutting, trimming and trash collection on Batona’s part of the trail from Ong’s Hat to Carranza. Bring lunch and drink. Batona will provide the tools or you can use your own. Since opening in 1961 as a 30-mile trail, it has become a well used part of New Jersey’s trail system. With the help of volunteers like you, the trail has grown to over 50 miles long. No cost. Leaders: Milt Cannan, 609-536-8205. (RAIN/SNOW  DATE SUN.  MARCH 5)
