Wissahickon Warm Weather Walk

  • 03 Jun 2015
  • 10:00 AM
  • Henry Avenue and Walnut Lane
8 to 9 miles. Let's take a warm weather walk along the gorgeous Wissahickon Creek on Forbidden Drive (the wide carriage path along the creek), easy to moderate pace (leader likes to stop and share his knowledge of Wissahickon history and of the many interesting things we'll pass). There are restrooms along the way. Bring lunch and beverages. We can do as much or as little mileage as the group wants. We can climb up for a close up of the Wissahickon Indian Statue as our lunch stop if we want to. In other words, we can be totally flexible as to mileage according to the weather and desires of the group. Bring a hiking stick in case we want to do a little of the upper trails. Afternoon break for soft ice cream or other treats at Valley Green Inn snack bar. Forecast of bad weather will postpone or cancel. Keep an eye on this listing for any possible updates. Almost no possibility of ticks or chiggers on this one! Meet at Henry Ave. & Walnut Lane public parking lot, corner of Walnut Lane and Magdalena Street, Philadelphia. Henry Ave and Walnut Lane is also accessed by public transportation. No cost. Leader: Jerry Goldstein, 609-859-8133, jerryhyker@yahoo.com
