15 miles. BATONA Hiking Club joins York Hiking Club for a hike along the Mason-Dixon Trail System starting at Lock 12 at Holtwood Dam (2428 Holtwood Road, Airville, PA) at 10:00 AM. to shuttle cars up to Otter Creek Campground. The trail starts along the Susquehanna River, then traverses a number of ridges affording views of small waterfalls on the Susquehanna River. The trail has some climbs ranging up to 600 feet. Most of the trail is through State Game Lands, but some sections are on the road. Depending on the weather, there may be two water crossings in the beginning of the hike. As the trail leads away from the Susquehanna River, the trail becomes smoother until it comes to Otter Creek Campground. From Otter Creek, we will create a loop up to Urey Overlook and back again to Otter Creek, the end point of the hike. Bring snacks, lunch, and trail shoes or hiking boots.
