BATONA TRAIL MAINTENANCE (Revised on March 13)

  • 15 Mar 2015
  • 9:30 AM
  • 08055

Note added on March 13 - Rain is definitely in the forecast and therefore, this activity is rescheduled for Sunday, March 15. We will be focused on pruning shrubs encroaching on the trail. We can all thank the Outdoor Club of South Jersey for their recent efforts to do the blazing for the entire Batona Trail.

Note added on March 10 - With the forecast for rain on Saturday, participants in this activity are urged to check this website after 6 PM on Friday, March 13 for possible rescheduling to the rain date of Sunday, March 15. If rescheduled, a note will be added to this write-up, otherwise the activity will proceed on Saturday as currently planned. Depart Red Lion at 9:30 AM. Anyone needing transportation must contact the leader by Friday March 13th to make arrangements. This year’s work trip will involve blazing Batona’s part of the trail from Ong’s Hat to Carranza. Bring lunch and drink. Batona will provide the paint, brushes and any other materials necessary. The Batona Trail opened in 1961 and was originally 30 miles long.  It has become a well used part of New Jersey’s trail system. With the help of volunteers like you, the trail has grown to 50 miles. Leader: Milt Cannan, 609-536-8205.
